Tanya Jain is a contemporary artist and writer based in Mumbai, India. She paints in acrylic on canvas, building abstract works from repeated gestures of strokes, stripes and lines until a rhythm emerges. Her work is concerned with rhythm, repetition and the point at which a structure begins to give way.

She has painted since childhood. Her current series, Cadence (2026), treats each brushstroke as an independent note that resolves, with others, into a single chord. It follows Read Between the Lines (2024–26), a series of line paintings in which ordered stripes tilt, curve and cross.

She trained at Parsons School of Design in New York (BFA, Fashion Design, 2017). The decade that followed was spent working in design and publishing: she founded and led the sustainable fashion label Pasithea, which won Best Sustainable Designer at Pure London and the Creative Entrepreneur Award from YFLO in 2018; worked as an art director for magazines and campaigns; and later founded the brand and design studio Typiql.

She is also the author of Maia (2023), a novel, and Origami Birds (2017), poems and short prose, and has written columns on design, sustainability and culture for the Times of India.
