About

Tanya Jain

Tanya Jain is a contemporary artist based in Mumbai, India. She works primarily in acrylic on canvas. Her current body of work, Read Between the Lines, is a line-based series concerned with rhythm, repetition and the point at which a structure begins to give way.

She trained at Parsons School of Design in New York, where she completed a BFA and spent four years drawing, building and writing. The decade that followed was spent making things in public: a sustainable fashion label, Pasithea, which she founded and led as creative director; magazines and campaigns as an art director; and later independent brand and editorial work through her studio, Typiql.

Writing has run alongside the making throughout. She is the author of two books, Maia (2023) and Origami Birds (2017), and has written columns for the Times of India.
